Ever since Olivier Rousteing, the brand’s creative director and lead designer took over the directory role, Balmain has undergone some massive changes that led the brand to greatly strive in the fashion industry. Not only did Olivier re-build the brand’s image but also created an army of well-known industry influencers such as Kim Kardashian West who promote the brand’s designs.
Now, after a 16 years long hiatus, Olivier announced a comeback of Balmain’s Couture division. Previously, Olivier had partnered with commercial brands such as H&M or Victoria’s Secret on affordable high-street clothing lines available for the general public. However, right now the brand is aiming to re-invent its exclusivity and bring back the true essence of Parisian high fashion.
Despite focusing on couture collection that will consist of one-of-a-kind pieces and understandably will not be available for general public, Olivier believes that his designs and creations encompass the basic perception of price when it comes to couture collections.
“I create a world that is expensive because with Balmain it’s luxury, but if you think of my ideas and ideologies it’s more than a price on the clothes.”
The Balmain’s couture collection is only in it’s making for now but we already cannot wait for the grandiose creations Olivier will undoubtedly bring to the runway.
The debut of the collection should take place this upcoming January and according to Olivier feature more than just mere couture. The fashion enthusiasts should, therefore, also brace themselves for sets of accessories, cosmetics, and fragrance.
