As of today, the popular multi-level retail store and concept store the Dover Street Market extended its reach to the US West Coast customers and opened its first brick-and-mortar store in downtown Los Angeles.
The retailer whose first concept store was originally located on Dover Street, in Mayfair, London was developed by Rei Kawakubo and her husband president of the Comme des Garçons brand, Adrian Joffe. Today, the couple owns stores in New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing and as of today officially a one in LA too.
The LA downtown-based location is a 10 000-square-foot premise situated in the Arts District. The owners chose the specific location for its close proximity to many trendy galleries and art installations. When it comes to all things modern and novel, the Arts District is considered to be one of the hippest locations in LA.
For the purpose of this special store opening many famous streetwear brands which are being retailed by the Dover Street Market stores designed merch that was exclusively debuted and sold at the store opening this past Saturday.
Some of the well-known brands who released a set of capsule collections featuring hoodies and monogram shirts were Off-White and Palace Skateboards.
The Dover Street Market holds a variety of other prominent street-wear labels ranging from Off-White to Vetements or sister label Comme des Garçons.
Even though the exclusive capsule collections might be due to their limited availability and huge buzz around the store opening already sold out when in LA you should defo give the local Dover Street Market store a go and perhaps even explore the Arts District to feel the true LA artsy vibe.
