The Story of How Viktor & Rolf’s Paris Couture Fashion Show Broke the Internet

The past week’s Paris Couture Shows will without a doubt mark a fashion history, at least in terms of social media buzz. Notably, the Couture collection presented by the Dutch designer house Viktor & Rolf completely overhauled the Fashion Week headlines.

The brand is well known for its eccentric nature and oftentimes incredibly avant-garde designs. However, what the designer duo unveiled at the Couture Week in Paris truly broke the Internet.

The brand bravely bet all the odds on something so extraordinary that could have made the show go completely south. The presented collection was so unique that it instantly sparked a huge social media craze. The designers maintained the avant-garde visual of their typical creations however with an extremely creative twist.

The whole collection followed a theme of slogan couture, meaning all the couture gowns carried large slogan statements. The inspiration behind the collection is quite apparent and can be traced to the millennial trend of relatable memes and slogans.

Immediately after the collection debut, the social media blasted with the collection inspired memes and posts. The pictures of models sporting the gowns became accompanied by funny comments or were turned into witty memes and re-created posts all over Instagram and other social media.

Even though it was a really risky move, Viktor & Rolf definitely hit the right note with this Couture Collection and managed to attract all the media buzz. Despite the fact that the collection is probably not really wearable, it is Couture, after all, the brand managed to steal all the attention and is it not at the end of the day what all designers strive for?

We cannot rave enough about how amused and entertained the collection made us. The slogans are incredibly witty and funny and above all RELATABLE AF.
