It’s not happening often that an automobile manufacturer is trying to make something that isn’t a car. But when that happens, it’s great and highly-anticipated! Aston Martin, a British car manufacturer you all probably know is ready to start a new project and to astound the whole world. Have you heard of Project Neptune? There is a big chance that you haven’t because after all, it’s a brand new information. Well, let me tell you about it.
The company is ready to start a production of a new exclusive limited edition submersible. Many people are already looking forward to go dive in it and if you’ve got the money for it, you should too. A public reveal has not happened yet, but it will later this year.
The submersible will be able to dive to 500 meters (1,650 feet) and they have managed to increase the speed from 4 mph to more than 5.7 mph (5 knots). Aston Martin and Triton Submarines, a company they are partnering with, achieved the increase in speed by increasing power, reducing frontal area, and improving the machine’s hydrodynamic efficiency. If there won’t be any changes in the future, the submersible should be fitted with a 30 kWh battery pack and enough power to last up to 12 hours. It should also weigh four tons.
It will be able to carry two passengers and a pilot. All of that in the luxurious interior, of course.
“The interior is quintessentially Aston Martin – a luxurious mix of hand-stitched leather and high-performance carbon fiber, assembled without obstructing the panoramic sight-lines that Triton submersibles are famous for,” said Chief Technical Officer at Triton, John Ramsay.
We are very curious about how this project will end up. We hope it will all work out perfectly because it sure looks amazing!
