Every yacht lover knows there are many beautiful and interesting yachts out in the world. But only a few of them have got a long history which makes them so special. Today, we will be talking about a yacht that is not even close to being ordinary, Christina O. Or should we say, the former HMCS Stormont?

The second name may sound like if it’s something that army use. Well, the truth is that once, it was used by an army. To be precise, the Royal Canadian Navy used this yacht as an anti-submarine River-class frigate in the second world war. Owning or just renting a yacht that was present during the Normandy landings or the Battle of the Atlantic must be an amazing experience and a walk to the past.

Christina O as an army anti-submarine River-class frigate named HMCS Stormont.

After the war, the Stormont was renamed to Christina and converted into the luxurious and astonishing yacht by none other than visionary of his time, Aristoteles Onassis. She was designed as an impressive yet cozy venue for the world’s most influential people to be entertained. Heads of state and business leaders were invited to socialize with the most beautiful and talented musicians – relationships were forged and developed for the mutual benefit of all.

This is what the yacht looks like today. It’s very fascinating to see how huge change it is when it’s compared to the army version.

And you can do the same. We met with David Jakabovič who had the pleasure to spend more than a week onboard of Christina O, and he told us some amazing things.

I remember like it was yesterday when I first time stepped onboard this beautiful iconic yacht. It was at the beginning of the year 2017 when Morley Yachts became a worldwide central agent for the charter of Christina O,” David said when our team asked him how did he manage to visit the yacht.

What an amazing experience that was,” recalls David and he continues with a description of the yacht. “Christina O offers a plenty of activities! She is extremely well equipped with tenders and toys of all kind. The flyboard is a great new addition for example, and there are three WaveRunners and two RIBs for watersports, in addition to the two beautiful Hacker Craft tenders. Kids also love the AquaGlide inflatable slide or banana to tow behind the tender. You can also enjoy full-time spa treatments offered by two professional therapists who can offer you a massage throughout the day. Maybe you would like to do some morning yoga? Let us know and we will try to accommodate all your wishes. One thing to mention is also the fantastic French Head Chef, who would spoil you with his great food during the whole charter. Good news for dancefloor lowers too! The mosaic swimming pool at the aft deck can be easily raised and transformed into a dancefloor. This is also a popular area for breakfast and BBQ set-ups with stunning views while being at anchor.” Our team also asked him what did he love the most on the yacht. “My favorite place on the yacht is the split-level Jacuzzi Deck, which overlooks the Aft Deck pool at one end, and a few steps down next to the Jacuzzi you arrive at the bar. There are spaces for large groups here as well as cozy relaxing and dining,” says David. Wow, just wow.

Another question was what was the most bizarre thing David found on the yacht.

Definitely the famous Ari’s bar with whale’s foreskin bar stools! Guests tend to have a lot of fun when they hear the story for the first time. However, I would also highlight the fact that the first meeting of Sir Winston Churchill and John F. Kennedy took place onboard this iconic yacht. It really feels like history comes alive once you step onboard Christina O,” says David.

Christina O is a great opportunity for a special occasion such as birthday party, wedding or any special lifetime occasion. There is also some remaining availability during July and August, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us for more details. I’m also happy to say that Christina O is already accepting charters for Christmas and New Year in the Caribbean,” says David.

When it comes to the place where the yacht sails, it’s only up to the client. This is something not everyone can offer. It’s making the experience even better.

Everybody who has tried this experience said only the positive things about it. It’s really a great way to combine a relaxation with an adventure.
