Being a football agent is not as easy as it seems. A lot of work must be done before the deal successfully happens. Talent, self-confidence and a skill to talk is needed to be good at being an agent. But then, there are some people who are too good to be included only in the football industry. One of them is Jerome Anderson, a now retired football agent who extended his reach by being included in heavyweight boxing too.
Anderson was an agent to one of the most successful professional boxers Lennox Lewis, a talented boxer who lost only two times during his career. The fight between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson was the biggest boxing event then and even today it’s still considered as one of the biggest.
When it comes to football, Anderson was involved in the transfer of Nigerian football player John Obi Mikel who was then transferred from the Norwegian football club Lyn Football to Premier League’s Chelsea. There, he appeared on the field more than 200 times and was involved with Chelsea for 11 years. Today, Mikel is playing for Chinese football club Tianjin TEDA F.C.
Thanks to Anderson’s influence, he came to attention at Premier League’s Manchester City.
“There is no one else in the world who could have delivered what I did in three weeks,” Anderson said after helping Manchester City to recruit eight new players. He also advised and helped the Manchester City’s owner Thaksin Shinawatra more known as “Frank” to achieve a success in the club and it worked out really great for him.
Anderson has retired from the football industry to focus more on the other businesses he’s got. During his career as a football agent, he has represented over 200 football players and he also helped some football clubs to be even more successful than they were without him.
