Gillian Jacobs, an actress known mainly for portraying Britta Perry on the NBC/Yahoo! Screen comedy series Community and Mickey Dobbs on the Netflix series Love, remembers how difficult was her growing up in Pennsylvania in very strict household and shares her most awkward moments in Vogues’s new video series “Sad Hot Girls”.
“I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in a very strict household, and I am not just talking about curfew or dating rules. My mother was actually picking up my clothes, which mainly consisted of khakis and polo shirts. Very sensible clothing for a teenage girl.”
Jacobs tells the story of a night out in the early 2000s, when she was set up with a guy. But instead of sparks flying, she had a wild time barhopping while sober and getting kicked out of the bar. Seems like even celebrities are just human with their ups and especially downs that are brought to the light in this Vogue’s special series “Sad Hot Girls”.
If you’ve been watching Netflix in recent weeks, you can see Gillian in her new movie Ibiza, which weaves a romantic tale across the Spanish holiday favourite. The movie, which boasts Will Ferrell and Anchorman director Adam McKay among its producers, follows a trio of friends who head for Ibiza when one of them, Harper (Gillian), is sent on a business trip to Barcelona and they end up tagging along.
