HBO will bring a new detective series with Amy Adams in the main role for long summer nights. Yesterday, the series premiered in LA. Amy Adams was there and looked sensational in a black gown with plunging neckline as she walked the red carpet with her husband Darren Le Gallo.
The couple, who’ve been together since 2002 and wed in 2015, couldn’t help showing their love for one another, puckering up for a smooch in front of the waiting photographers.
Based on the book of the same name by The New York Times bestselling author Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl, Dark Places), this eight-episode series tells the story of reporter Camille Preaker (Adams) who returns to her small hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, she finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too closely.
Amy Adams stars along with co-stars Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins and Matt Craven. The series is directed by Jean-Marc Vallée from scripts by Marti Noxon and Gillian Flynn and premieres July 9 at 9 pm at HBO.
And the reviews look sharp as well:
“Sharp Objects is dazzlingly itself, a show in thrall to the horror of its premise but one that finds nuance within unremitting darkness” – Variety.
“Based on the first episode, we can confidently say that Sharp Objects makes the moodiness of Big Little Lies look like child’s play.” – TV Guide
“The Sharp Objects premiere set Austin on fire [at ATX TV Festival] as Amy Adams, Gillian Flynn celebrate complicated women in TV.” – IndieWire
